Finished Crocheted Shrug, New Magazines

Here is the finished shrug - I wore it once this week already.Unfortunately, the "modeling" photos do not show the collar or other details too clearly, nor do they do justice to the beautiful colorway of the yarn. The last pic (while it was a WIP) gives a much better idea of the true colors in the yarn.

I picked up some new magazines this week, hot off the presses. The latest issue of Knit It! grabbed my attention right away with the pretty shrug on the cover, and has other great projects inside. Knitsimple , a brand new publication from Vogue Knitting, had a nice pullover sweater in super chunky yarn that I would love for the weekends (p38, shown above), as well as a hoodie and some cardigans that look like fun. This new magazine is designed for "new knitters ready to move on" to the next level of projects and skills (past scarves, etc.) and it's also meant for "busy " knitters with more experience, but who for lack of time, want projects with "less fuss and bother". I like the projects a lot, and it does introduce the reader to new techniques; for example, this premiere issue explains mitered knitting, ripple patterned knitting, and even machine knitting. I am already looking forward to the next issue!
