Knitting Olympics Update

Knitting Olympics Update
I will not make the finish line on time... I ran into problems with my first sock - the foot portion fit fine, but the leg portion practically needed a crowbar to get over my heel! :( So, I am making adjustments to the second sock - moving up to the next size, and using a larger needle on the leg portion - and I will then frog and re-knit the first sock.

In spite of being way behind, I am very pleased with my work and have learned a few things:
  1. How to do the picot edge;
  2. How to knit a heel;
  3. Not to rush when I am learning something new: "haste makes waste".

These were all good lessons, so while I may not "medal" in the Knitting Olympics, I will definitely finish - even if I do so long after the closing ceremonies are over, and everyone else has returned home. I have also enjoyed seeing everyone else's projects and progress. They always give me new ideas.

So where do I go from here? I am now moving into what I call "marathoner mode" - most marathoners run for the joy of accomplishment, not for winning or even finishing in the top 100. That's why the NYC marathon has grown to thousands of participants. Even if I am the last one across the Knitting Olympics finish line, I will make it!

Now you just keep on going. Its beautiful. Marathon attitude it is. A fine one at that. Admirable. Keep showing the progress. I love the color
