Spring Has Sprung!

Spike

So why do I feel like taking a nap???? It's still quite chilly here, and very windy... I'm with Spike here (who's lying on the afghan/blanket I made for hubby). I haven't been sleeping well at night lately, and in the mornings I just want to roll over and stay in bed. Thank heavens for coffee!

Well, I was really happy to see that Knitty was on the ball and right there yesterday with the Spring 2008 Issue for the first day of Spring! :)

THe first pattern that caught my eye is the Lace Ribbon Scarf. So pretty and delicate! That's a definite must-do, and very soon! My other two favorites are Nob Hill (a shrug/jacket)and Spirogyra (fingerless gloves very similar to Mermaid Gloves, but without the individual fingers. The pattern is also similar to the Pomatomus gloves, based on the Pomatomus Sock pattern published in Knitty's Winter '05 issue).

I printed all three patterns immediately, and look forward to beginning the Lace Ribbon scarf soon. I love, love, love Nob Hill, too, but as a full figured gal I don't know that it would look nearly as chic on me as it does on the lovely designer/model, Ashley. Perhaps after I have lost a bit more weight (yes, I am on a weight management program!) and have a real waist, I can think about making it for myself. In the meantime, I can think about it as a gift project... Spirogyra will make a great portable project, and as a member of the Fingerless Mitts KAL, I am sure at least one pair is in my future, if not several (for Christmas gifts, etc.)

I got a kick out of Paw Cozy, too. It's a very creative solution to keeping your hands warm while walking the dog, if you use a retractable leash.

Magknit's latest issue is also up, with the most adorable little girl's dress, Miss Muffet, on the front page. They have some other fun patterns, too.

What do YOU like? What's your next project?

Thanks for reminding me to go take a look at Knitty's latest issue. I just fell in love with Yosemite. I hope to cast on next month.

And your pup looks adorable.
